Portland Press Herald turns off comments

Publisher Richard Connor says “what once served as a platform for civil civic discourse and reader interaction has increasingly become a forum for vile, crude, insensitive, and vicious postings.” The shutdown affects the websites of the Portland Press Herald, the Waterville Morning Sentinel and the Kennebec Journal.

We have made it easy to comment on posts, however we require civility and encourage full names to that end (first initial, last name is OK). Please read our guidelines here before commenting.
