Philanthropist Warren Hellman‘s $5 million Bay Citizen contribution is expected to last for just a year. (The online news outlet, which provides coverage to the New York Times, launched in May.) Bay Citizen “has launched a fundraising drive, with a half dozen paid professionals trolling the streets in hopes of landing new members at a minimum $50 a pop,” report Matier & Ross in their second column item.
