NPR board: We didn’t call for news exec’s resignation

Poynter.org
NPR board chairman David Edwards tells Mallary Jean Tenore that the board can only make personnel decisions concerning the CEO, and therefore didn’t recommend that Ellen Weiss resign from her position as senior vice president for news. He says the board’s investigation of Juan Williams’ firing “found that things were done with haste, as opposed to the deliberate process that you would hope would take place.”
> Weiss says she’ll continue to “love and admire NPR”
> “Weiss’ resignation was met with shock inside NPR”
> NPR’s “Morning Edition” covers the resignation (audio/story)
