Gawker’s new layout made it easier for readers to find ‘Craigslist Congressman’ scoop

Brian Stelter points out that in Gawker’s old layout, the Christopher Lee story would have swiftly slid down the page, overtaken by more recent posts. Gawker’s controversial new magazine-style format features one big story at a time.

This simply isn’t true. Old Gawker had a skybox with its biggest stories in them. If that wasn’t enough, a small tweak could have made one of those stories more prominent than the others. And even a redesign along the lines of what Denton wanted could have been implemented without turning the site into a confusing, broken mess.
