LAT: We’ve spelled Libya leader’s name ‘Kadafi’ since 1969

From DENNIS PERSICA: The LAT Kadafi story, and the various spellings in the news media, reminds me of one of the National Lampoon newspaper parodies of a couple of decades ago. Not the famous “Dacron, Ohio” one; this one was later. The lead story was about Kadafi, and his name was spelled differently in each subsequent reference, using all of the popular variants: Qaddafi, Gaddafi, etc.
