More than 600 people have written checks to help the alt-weekly fight Dan Snyder‘s lawsuit, says publisher Amy Austin. “We at City Paper will survive this, and in all likelihood will come out stronger on the other end,” she writes. “In fact, we’re confident we’ll triumph in court.”

    Has Amy Austin lost all sense of decency, or is this a scheme concocted by her self-promoting boss in Tampa? To ask cash-strapped readers to pay for defending a lawsuit against City Paper, a profitable business with a libel insurance policy that’s owned by a billionaire hedge fund, is ludicrous. This makes WCP and its corporate owners look as greedy and immoral as Dan Snyder
