Texas governor blocks media from Twitter account

Dallas Morning News reporter Tom Benning and at least two other journalists have been blocked from following Gov. Rick Perry. Benning says says discovering that he couldn’t follow Perry was a bit surprising “and gave me a good chuckle.” || Follow @GovernorPerry.

The problem with blocking is that anyone can create another account in seconds and follow, which makes blocking senseless. Except, for the slap in the face.

Either Perry is stunningly unaware of how easy it is to circumvent a blocked twitter account or he thinks this ‘snub’ will have some symbolic effect. What effect he’d be hoping for I don’t know. Perhaps he wants to hurt the reporter’s feelings?
