Survey says newspaper reporter salaries really leaped in ’03

Inland Press Association
Entry-level reporters saw their average base pay jump 6.8 percent from 2002 to 2003, according to a survey of 455 newspapers. Experienced reporters saw their average base pay increase 7.1 percent from the year before, almost double the average percentage increase from the previous five years. Curiously, the survey summary doesn’t give specific salary figures.
