Fort Myers News-Press
Seven years ago Gannett launched its “Real Life, Real News” initiative, which was “reporting on people, places and events significant in the everyday lives of readers and covering other news so that it directly connects to them.” The 2011 version of that is Gannett’s “Passion Topics” initiative. A team of Gannett researchers is in Fort Myers this week to interview News-Press readers about their lifestyle and passions. “Interviews will last about 60 minutes and we will compensate selected participants $50 for their time,” says a News-Press story. || Gannett Blog commenter:: “‘Passion Topics’ is the next great buzz word that corporate thinks will save our newspapers.” || Burlington Free-Press is said to be “the golden child of passion topics right now.” This apparently is an example of that.
