NPR’s Board of Directors has been searching for a new CEO for several months, but there is still “not a tentative deadline” to find one, Media Relations Director Anna Christopher said via email. Joyce Slocum has served as interim president and CEO since Vivian Schiller resigned following the release of a video showing former Senior Vice President for Development Ron Schiller (no relation) making controversial remarks about conservatives. Ron Schiller also resigned; Jaime Porter is now temporarily serving in his position. And Margaret Low Smith has served as acting senior vice president for news since Ellen Weiss resigned in January following criticism over how she handled the Juan Williams incident. Christopher said that NPR “decided many months ago to hold the searches for the senior vice president of news and the senior vice president of development until after the new CEO is on board.”
