Audie Cornish to fill in for Michele Norris as host of “All Things Considered”

“NPR Weekend Edition Sunday” host Audie Cornish will be replacing Michele Norris on “All Things Considered” for the next year, beginning in January, NPR announced today.

Norris is stepping away from the host’s chair through the 2012 election because her husband, Broderick Johnson, joined the staff of President Obama’s re-election campaign.

A note to staff today from acting SVP of News Margaret Low Smith announced the move:

“While it was a tough decision to move Audie (albeit temporarily) from a program she has quickly made her own, her skills and experience make her the ideal person to step in. She is a warm and familiar voice to NPR audiences and an outstanding journalist and storyteller. Audie will be a wonderful compliment to Robert [Siegel] and Melissa [Block]. And, in an Election year, her experience covering Capitol Hill and the 2008 presidential election will be a huge plus.”

Why would you prefer they lie like that?

Wouldn’t this pointless exercise in musical chairs cease once and for all if NPR would just admit it’s the publically-subsidized communications arm of the DNC?

Good question. They’re conducting an internal search for someone to fill in on “Weekend Edition.” (See http://readn.gs/uWREoS). –Julie

Yes. Just because the article doesn’t say this
means NOTHING. EVERY loyal American knows how pro illegal alien invading
border criminal the news media really is.

The obvious question: who is replacing Cornish at Weekend Edition?
