The Boston Globe | Bangor Daily News | The Portland Press Herald
The Portland Press Herald published a news release this afternoon announcing that its owner MaineToday had secured “significant new capital investment.” One of the investors is Aaron Kushner, who has been trying to get a group together to buy The Boston Globe. “It’s unclear if his investment in the Portland paper will cause him to drop that effort,” reports the Globe’s Beth Healy. ”Maine Today Media has undergone some serious cuts and changes in top management in recent months,” reports Matt Wickenheiser of the Bangor Daily News. “In October, the Press Herald underwent a round of layoffs, both voluntary and involuntary, that resulted in 61 job losses.” || Earlier: MaineToday Media CEO departure clouded by speculation, confusion
