New NYT CEO will make $1 million year, plus possible bonuses

Mr. Thompson is receiving a $3 million sign-on bonus. In 2013, Mr. Thompson will receive a $1 million annual salary plus the potential for a $1 million annual bonus. He will also receive a $3 million bonus for meeting long-term incentives, paid out over three years. The bonus payments are not guaranteed unless Mr. Thompson meets certain goals spelled out by the company.

    Earlier i had commented that the BBC , famous for its short headlines on the website often using “scare quotes” in single quote marks as per UK custom, and often criticized for TOO MANY scare quotes in their headlines, might bring his scare quotes fixation to the NYT front page in print and also the digital site. However, an Irish langauge maven says he does not believe that will haoppne when the million dollar man makes the move to NYC in November.
