How AP photojournalist captured photo of Joe Biden and biker

Vice President Joe Biden talks to customers during a stop at Cruisers Diner, Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, in Seaman, Ohio. (Carolyn Kaster/AP)

Erik Wemple tracked down Carolyn Kaster, the AP photojournalist who captured this moment: “The woman with whom Biden made campaign-trail photographic history, says Kaster, was originally on the other side of the diner’s aisle. People were taking pictures of the vice president, recalls Kaster, and the woman wanted in. So Biden took action. ‘He pulled the chair in front of the table so she could be in the picture,’ says Kaster, noting that there was nothing so cozy as lap-mounting; it was all on the level.”

Any explanation for what’s happening in this photo?:

With nothing in the report about it.
Just how Mr. Biden arranged the seating.
