Wisconsin State Journal is latest of 35 newspapers to flip endorsement from Obama in ’08 to Romney for president

In the final hours of the presidential campaign, the largest endorsing newspaper in the swing state of Wisconsin has thrown its support to GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

In an editorial published Sunday, the Wisconsin State Journal said:

This is not an easy endorsement to make.

Obama is the more likeable candidate and inspiring speaker. Obama inherited a mess from his predecessor, Republican President George W. Bush, who was even more disappointing than Obama has been.

Obama got us out of Iraq. He pressured public schools to reform. He gave the final order that got Osama bin Laden.

But this election is about jobs, the slow economy and Washington’s dysfunction. Our leaders can’t even pass a budget, much less stabilize soaring debt that’s burdening our children and grandchildren.

Obama failed to embrace his own commission’s bipartisan debt deal. Ryan, serving on the commission, similarly balked at the solid and comprehensive agreement.

But Obama is the president. The buck stops with him. This is now Obama’s economy, even though the GOP shares in the blame for partisan games.

This endorsement may be even more significant since the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel decided not to endorse either presidential candidate this year.

The State Journal becomes the ninth large paper in a Swing State to flip from an Obama endorsement in 2008. Newsday’s endorsement of Romney this weekend was also a reversal of the paper’s ’08 Obama endorsement, as was the New York Daily News endorsement.

Swing state endorsement tally: Romney 24, Obama 15

I hate to go ad hominem on you, but did you attend an Ivy League school? Do you know anyone who has? It takes an immense amount of work and brains to get accepted to Harvard or Columbia, which currently hold acceptance rates at 6 and 7.4% (respectively). You may not agree with his policies, and I respect that. I don’t agree with everything he says either. However, targeting his unknown transcript is a weak argument, and it reeks of an ex-birther pulling at straws (which I don’t think anybody wants to come across as). He obviously did well enough at Columbia to get accepted to Harvard, and he obviously did well enough at Harvard to become something other than a history teacher in a dead-end job. Whether you think he’s likeable or not, you have to admit he must have done something right in school to get to where he is now.

Michael, thank you for the note. You are correct. Dallas endorsed McCain in 2008. That was my mistake. I have fixed it in the story and added a correction. I checked all the papers directly (their ’08 endorsements are often referenced in their 2012 endorsements and where they weren’t I searched for them), so I believe the list is accurate. But I do understand your skepticism. –Julie Moos, Poynter Online

Someone will have to pay that back – with interest. If re-elected he intends to do it again! That’s right. He PLANS to have $4-5 trillion MORE debt piled on there in his second term. He is TRYING to bankrupt our country.

There was a time when Ivy Leaguers did not hold themselves above everyone else. Lookk at the rolls of those who volunteered and died in the service of their country in the Civil War, WWI and WWII. Today, the average Ivy Leaguer would be more likely to take up arms AGAINST this country than in support of it. Chalk it up to the “professionalization” of academia, which is become little more than a incubator for left wing radicalism and sedition.

I know I know its always Democratic talking points with you guys; Facts are hard to swallow; especially when guys like lack “CONTEXT” its a very important word but here it goes anyhow

JEEP is Expanding Production; do you know the difference? If The CEO and AUTO Leaders say this is a a lie and even the Italians.. you want me to believe you and a 30 sec commercial?..AND if it is true then why do you care if JEEP moves production to China.. I thought Republicans are free enterprise .oh only when a Republican is in office then its Free Market time .. hypocrite

“No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.” . . I mean I agree he didn’t spoon feed you with “THE ATTACK ON BENGHAZI WAS a ACT TERROR” .. but why does it matter if he did or did not use those words.? ..compared to previous Presidents who did say the RIGHT Words but Failed.. ” Mission Accomplished” . .you believed that on probably..
BIN LADEN DEAD by orders of PRESIDENT OBAMA … hard to take I know

Romney in regards to Abortion; your right he is Pro Choice; I mean as of 2 months ago; not sure though he keeps going back and forth on this… he stated he would make it harder for woman to choose, defund planned parenthood and I’m sure he will chooses Justices who are pro choice .. right?
you got me on this .. “There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda,” Andrea Saul,.. “would of course support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life.” ….”Meet the Press.” “And it would be my preference that they reverse Roe V. Wade and therefore they return to the people and their elected representatives the decisions with regards to this important issue.”…I’m lost on this one so please clarify ..

Obama clearly saved the Auto Industry from Dissolving; making finances available to them while they went through Bankruptcy . to deny this is really just saying I hate OBAMA just because.. at least be a little credible . GM stock is low because they suck .. I drive a lexus . .

I appreciate the debate but just because I have another view doesn’t mean I listen to moveon or kos or whatever; have more respect for the other side; their are a lot of people on the other side who aren’t talking points . .
    good luck to you Tuesday

You nailed it Cecil. If America votes for him again, we get what we deserve. I’m hoping that the country is not that stupid. The following was written by Ivan Kenneally of “The Mesh Report,” about Pres. Obama. I think he nailed it…
“Despite all the contentless folderol about the virtue and wonder of bipartisan cooperation he spouted during his first campaign for president, Obama loathes dissent and only begrudgingly and condescendingly tolerates being contradicted. His brand of strident confidence crosses a line into elitist hubris, shorn of every follicle of humility, convinced that all who disagree with him are benighted fools or evil adversaries.
“In other words, there is something at the heart of Obama’s animating ethos that abhors democracy, which necessarily gives free reign to a spirited exchange of competing ideas. His famous thin-skinned hypersensitivity is a symptom of a lack of self-reflection – criticism shocks him like personal offense since it never really occurs to him that he might be wrong.”

Took them long enough to recognize a man with actual experience. The best speakers are frequently con artists and manipulaters. Leaders are not always the best speakers, but they know how to get things done. Romney knows how to get things done. Congress, Republican or Democrat, needs to start looking at what is best for the counrty, not for the party, not for the individual, but for the country and be committed to working together!
“He pressured public schools to reform,” in whose state. All we see is more regulation preventing teachers from teaching, at the very least hampering their ability and effectiveness to teach. The one who pressured your schools to change was your governor trying to put the teacher union in its proper place.
“He gave the final order that got Osama bin Laden” Bin Laden was gotten because of Bush policy. Obama may have given the final order but the work was done under Bush.
“This is now Obama’s economy,” Yes, no budget and out of control spending, yes he gets to take responsiblity for that. ” …even though the GOP shares in the blame for partisan games” This is the truest statement the article has made.
Let’s start looking at the truth, not fooling ourselves into believing the lies fed to us by main stream media and the politicians.
We must remain vigil over our government, our constitution and rights.

Five hundred retired generals and admirals will run an ad in Monday’s editions of The Washington Times calling on the country to elect Republican Mitt Romney on Tuesday.
In plain terms the officers, who paid for the ad themselves, said they support Mr. Romney: “We, the undersigned, proudly support Governor Mitt Romney as our nation’s next president and commander-in-chief.”
The ad then goes on to list all of the officers, in alphabetical order, in four columns of print.
The retired admirals and generals said they decided to take this public stand to try to head off “having to live through four more years of what has been experienced since January 20th, 2009.”

You nailed it for me when you noted that Obama presents himself as an elitist snob that looks down his nose while claiming to be one of us. That’s the core belief of the Populist/Progressive and that delusion persists for them whatever part of the political system they arrogantly occupy. The Democrat party is filled to overflowing w/the type – but Republicans are not immune.

I maintain that an (actually) well educated person – which Obama ( who, in all likelihood was shuffled into the upper echelons via affirmative action) is not – does not willfully separate out from the rest of humanity by elevating him/herself above others. Both Obamas can’t help but know they came by their academic degrees dishonestly. They, like all other frauds, are pretentious. They are also dangerous.

Romney strikes me as the real deal – I hope so. And he will have my vote.

The gullibility of the American voter is amazing. Even as the country sinks under a dilettante like Obama, the ignoramus factor that got him elected in ’08 is alive and well. I could see through this charlatan the first time I heard him speak. I saw this man as the incarnation of a Victorian-era wagoner who made his money selling elixir and snake-oil; a Snidely Whiplash with a soaring penchant for empty yack. Now that is funny!! Some folks are still so afraid of being called “racist” if they don’t vote for him – again, but lots of folks have gotten over that. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me applies to the Obummer in spades.

I have yet to hear a coherent argument from a liberal that can explain how the country can spend its way out of financial ruin. They have yet to explain how increasing the national debt to nearly $20 trillion is good for the country’s economic position. They have yet to explain how burdening the business community will help people get hired by that very same business community. Liberals have yet to explain how crippling a business will free it up to invest. They have yet to explain how redistribution inspires those who produce. They have yet to explain how dependency on government is good for a person, a family, a nation. They have yet to point to a single thing Obama has done that logically can be connected, in theory or as demonstrated by evidence, the economic well-being of this country.

    Liberals are economic imbeciles. Period.

Well I don’t know about the Ivy League thing, JFK graduated from Harvard and many well informed folks say if he were alive today and still pushed what he did back then (cutting taxes, growing the economy etc.) he would be a Republican now. I told a cousin, just think how much joy one can get from voting for Romney on Tuesday. Not only can you vote against Obama and Biden, but you also get to symbolically vote against Chris Matthews, Michael Moore, NBC, CBS, ABC, The Washington Post, The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, almost 90 percent of actors, producers, and directors in Hollywoood, George Soros, Warren Buffet, Wesley Clark, three out of four TV celebrities on The View and many other shows on TV plus Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, Janet Napolitano, two leftist members of the Supreme Court, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and on and on. All that satsifaction from just one vote. Romney was right to ask people to vote for love of country primarily but Obama was also right for some of us who have had our fill of the Left Wing media when he said that voting is the best revenge. Only the very best revenge of all is to vote against Obama.

  • Phil Crawford

Obama’s philosophy has always been to radically diminish American achievement as
“Social Gospel” but is apparently now referred to as “Revenge Gospel”? I believe I see and understand who the REAL Obama is and his anti colonialism socialist philosophy. Most of the bourgeois elite liberals who vote for him don’t even realize his hatred of America. An
American President pursuing “Revenge Gospel” against America for Colonialism? Can’t everyone see that he is just destroying our country?

I was looking for the The Atlanta Journal Constutution in that list. With Georgia almost completely Red, you would think our largest newspaper would reflect the citizens. It is embarassing. I don’t think there should be any question about the right person for the country. We are dealing with a communist n the Oval Office, one who is also narcissistic and is necrophiliac. He is pushing cultural rot in our country, He speaks of revenge, he has been in that mode ever since he began his political career in Chicago. He is evil and it appears that the country has finally been able to admit this and say it outloud.

  • http://www.facebook.com/keith.barnett.94 Keith Barnett

Why are newspapers, which are supposed to be non-partisan, endorsing politicians anyway? The WSJ editorial complained about all the partisan politics in Washington. I don’t understand how endorsing political candidates is not partisan politics?

Daisytoo, the primary reason people think all Ivy Leaguers are elitist snobs is because that is the popular portrayal by Hollywood. Despite the general public’s misgivings about Hollywood, they still buy almost everything they shovel. I’ve got a great idea, and I think you will agree – we should judge each person on their own merits or don’t even judge them at all. All that said, Obama IS an elitist snob that looks down his nose at everybody while claiming to be one of us.

We already give far to much away to corporations, from no income taxes to GE, to billions to the Iraq/Afghanistan boondoggles to companies like Haliburton. If you want to see CEOs make millions, and hedge fund traders billions while the poor can’t afford shoes, vote Romney.

Let’s examine that for a moment: He must have approached a LOT of papers to have this many endorsements, and all of the ones listed here said “yes, give me the money”. Laws of probability would dictate that he also approached at least a few moral journalists who said “no”. Now don’t you thinik there would be front page eye-smacking headlines and screaming TV “breaking news” about such corruption because out of the moral ones who said “no”, there would be a few whistleblower-newspapers anxious fo a scoop, don’t you think? There’s nothing wrong w/having an Ivy League education. Obama’s problem is that he was passed through the system and has earned nothing on his own and not done a legitimate day’s work in his life. Romney has 2 degrees from Harvard and is legitimately successful – his success is certainly not theoretical. I know plenty of people who have ivy league degrees (my husband is one of them) and I assure you, the best educated people look down their noses at no one. I have noticed that people who are insecure about their own educations, tend to put well educated people down – and in fact ‘look down their noses at them’ and tout the ‘common man’ (aka themselves) as superior to all. Which is utter, elitist nonsense all dolled up to look humble. It doesn’t fool me. Get rid of the chip on your shoulder, it’s causing you to be arrogant.

I wouldn’t place all academics in the same category. All degrees are not created equal so for me (I have my degree in physics), scientist, mathematicians, and economicist opinions carry more weight than other academics. Neil deGrasse Tyson (Famous Astrophysicist) said it best on Bill Maher’s show that the problem with politics is that the majority of politicans are lawyers. So you have this one field of professionals representing America. What we need is more Engineers, more Doctors, more Teachers, etc to take a political route to represent the different areas of politics instead of having the one field of lawyers who by the way are trained to argue. Here is the link:

And now the epa is planning on regulations to further strangle the coal industry, we heat our homes with coal fired electrical plants, obama really wants us to become a third world country.
And to all of you kool-aid drinking wing-nuts your green energy cars and lifstyles(iphones, ipads, etc) all require electricity. Of the three papers that endorsed McCain in 2008 and decided to endorse Obama this time, one is the San Francisco Examiner. No mystery there.

Another is the San Antonio Express-News, which got a new editor in August, Mike Leary, a transplant from the Philadelphia Inquirer. So again, no mystery there.

The third is the Winston-Salem Journal, which was recently acquired by Berkshire-Hathaway. I don’t know if the editor was under orders to endorse Obama, but he probably decided if he wanted to stay in his job then he wouldn’t want to make Warren Buffett unhappy. Decision? No mystery.

I wonder why there aren’t any papers that switched to Obama that weren’t coerced in one way or another.

President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency has devoted an
unprecedented number of bureaucrats to finalizing new anti-coal
regulations that are set to be released at the end of November,
according to a source inside the EPA.

More than 50 EPA staff are now crashing to finish greenhouse gas
emission standards that would essentially ban all construction of new
coal-fired power plants. Never before have so many EPA resources been
devoted to a single regulation. The independent and non-partisan
Manhattan Institute estimates that the EPA’s greenhouse gas coal
regulation will cost the U.S. economy $700 billion.

    A Misadjusted Calculator or Incompetence

5.2% unemployment is what his plan promised,
They cooked them down to 7.8%—to fool us.
    $900 billion for 10 yrs—will pay O-care’s costs,
0 patients treated exploded to a $2.7 trillion loss!

One wonders how it can be this close,
A dim malady has yet to be diagnosed.
I reckon for many—reality is an irrelevancy,
    Honor’s in bankruptcy—it’s who’s gonna gimme.

    My preference is dysfunctional gridlock;
    A 51-49 Senate + an R House—stops the clock.
Overall—it matters very little who wins,
But Keystonian exec orders keep the lights dim.

    Ok there Laquan,

Since you believe in your Obama man, please tell us ALL what he has done for this country. I mean, ONE well agreed upon good thing is all you need… Just one…

Oh and Obamacare aint it… More than HALF this country thinks its the wrong direction.

Oh and sorry, but killing Bin Laden aint it. The wheels for that assassination were not ordered onto the ground in Pakistan by Obama. They were there and when they found him, simply said “can we kill him?”… What could Obama say? No?

So come on there Laquan… We are waiting for the ONE THING that Obama has done..

Increased the welfare state size? Yep that was one. Oh sorry that wasnt a good thing…

Ahhh I know ! You will say the stimulus! Yes that amazing stimulus that he stated clearly would bring unemployment back down to 5.4% and… oh wait.. unemployment rocketed upwards after the stimulus. Oh hey Laquan, where did Obama GET the money for the stimulus? Do you know? Do you care!? It came in the form of MORE BORROWED MONEY FROM CHINA… The GM Bailout was a Chinese funded bailout. How great was that huh?? Romney wanted them to go bankrupt you hear everyone say… Well guess what Laquan, they DID GO BANKRUPT and Obama brought them into bankruptcy! He just bought them out using the borrowed Chinese money. Romney, a businessman who was behind the investments dozens of large corporations like Staples and others that now employ TENS OF THOUSANDS (Jobs in case you didnt catch that), said that the GM Bailout should have been done by the private sector … this would have been the RIGHT move since the money would have been circulating within our borders and not through China.

Here is all you need to know.. and before I say it, I know I know, it was historic to elect a Black American to the presidency. I personally liked Herman Cain a whole lot better. But history is going to show that all this man with no past did for America was to leave us worse off than before. Laquan this guy has provided your kids, however many you may or may not have with more debt to pay back through taxes than ALL PREVIOUS AMERICAN PRESIDENTS COMBINED! Now I capitalized that to make it clearer. Did you catch it?

    Just checkin’…

Exactly! The American people reacted in 2010 to Obama & the Democrats over reaching (and over spending) in their expansion of the federal government’s powers. The PEOPLE voted the Republicans in the majority in the House, increased their numbers in the Senate and gave the GOP huge gains in state houses, governor mansions, etc. Yes, the GOP blocked lots of Obama/Democratic bills but that’s what they were elected for. Obama never made ONE attempt to meet seriously with the Republicans and come to any kind of compromise. And with Bohner in the House and McConnell in the Senate (both RHINO’s) compromise was possible IF Obama had not insisted on his way or no way.

ANOTHER NEWSPAPER IN A KEY STATE ENDORSE MITT ROMNEY.

  • Daniel Martin Gray

    REAL REPORTING from the FRONTLINES:

I was in Harrisburg PA on Thursday night for an NRA/Tagg Romney event at Bass Pro Shops.

    SRO.

Yesterday I drove the 70+ miles to Harrisburg Intenational Airport to see Paul Ryan.

Saw his plane, but not our NEXT VICE PRESIDENT.
Fire Marshall refused to allow any more into the AIRCRAFT HANGAR (you know, a building as BIG as a CITY BLOCK?).
Said we had already EXCEEDED CAPACITY!

Some 3500 of us didn’t get to see Ryan, but WE WILL VOTE for ROMNEY/RYAN, anyway!

Lots of nice folks. Even spoke with people I WORK WITH in the State Unemployment Office, and a lovely woman whose daughter works for TSA.

DEAR LEADER and his PROGS won’t know what HIT THEM…
In the past month, I have been to Brooklyn NY, Philadelphia PA, Harrisburg PA, Allentown PA, Tamaqua PA, Pottsville PA, Hershey PA, and points in between.

I ZOOM on the Interstate to get there on TIME, and take the back ways home to enjoy the scenery. And I NOTICE things.
Ratio in the cities, of ROMNEY/RYAN signs to OBAMA/BIDEN signs?

    100:1.

    OUTSIDE the cities?

There are NO O/B signs AT ALL…

Pennsylvania’s Most Accurate Pollster Points to Romney Win

    C.K. replied to you

For a few days last week, was in Cleveland, Ohio; mostly west of the city in the Westlake, Avon, North Olmstead area, but also east Cleveland, near some universities.

Came from several hundred miles south.

Saw two Obama stickers in all that time and distance, including return trip. One was standard O/B 2012. The other was an “African Americans for Obama” on a car driven by — yes, you guessed it — an African American.

Saw a large O 2012 yard sign coming north on the interstate.

Saw many times more R/R or plain R bumper stickers, plus several yard signs.

Where I live, where there were many O/B yard signs and bumper stickers in 2008, now there are essentially none.

But much more R/R yard signs and bumper stickers.

    Trikke replied to you

I have been seeing the same think in Florida concerning signs and bumper stickers. Here is my count thus far in 2 months just counting them wherever I drive, which is a cross section of the whole area:

    Signs:
    77 – Romney
    20 – obama

    Bumper Stickers:
    18 – Romney
    2 – obama
    2 – Paul

The Romney signs and bumper stickers FAR out number obama’s. I think the votes will, too.

More importantly than reviewing Bush and obama’s failed policies, it’s time we wise up to the fact that we don’t need a new president…we need a DIFFERENT president…one with proven experience and talent to bring us out of the obama failed policies mess. He made thing worse and if he wins, he’ll inherit a BIGGER mess from himself than anything Bush ever did! Now we have the Benghazi terrorist attack and learned how useless obuma is…simply put, he did not want to offend the muslims/terrorists because he is weak. He talks of revenge…well, mr. obuma, how about getting REVENGE on the terrorists who killed our ambassador and Navy Seals???! You are nothing more than a community organizer because obviously the last 4 years didn’t teach you how to be a president. It all starts with love of America and that’s is something you just don’t have…could be because you were raised abroad and mentored by liberals…you view America in the same way a foreign exchange student does…you have no sense of nationalism which is what drives the birthers…something is wrong..something is missing. Your surrogate Axelrod says you speak from your loins…how about speaking from your heart. .it was clinton who spoke (and acted) from his loins and was impeached…either way, obama and clinton both disgraced the presidency. Heaven help us and God Bless America on Tuesday….

“This is now Obama’s economy, even though the GOP shares in the blame for partisan games.”

This last line bears examination. On the one hand we have the vast majority of the U.S. citizenry who seek to protect rights. On the other hand we have Obama and his socialist cohorts who never found a right that they could correctly distinguish from a privilege and then go about trying to destroy it. It’s the peoples choice. Do you want freedom? Real freedom? Or do you want a socialist dictatorship?

The Wisconsin State Journal called this fight, and I quote, “partisan games”. If protecting our rights, our freedom, is partisan, count me in for Romney. Anyone but Obama and his socialist cohorts.

Fast and Furious, all his cabinet member who were smart enough to quit on him before he even finish his first four years, our tax payer money that was given to all the bankrupt and failed energy companies that don’t provide any alternative energy to us, and to top it off Benghazi??? So does this mean crime pays even if it is conducted by President of United States?

Admittedly my comment can be interpreted that I want fighting in the streets. But, a closer read should tell a reader my comment is a realistic and objective analysis of today in the United States, not an argument favoring physical rebellion.

I suspect that if you were to read an ebook I published in March, you would revise your statement by omitting the word stupidity. Further, I say in a friendly way you might even ask your higher power for forgiveness.

I no longer give links to the book via these forums because I’ve been banned by other such forums when doing so.

Please understand I do not propose anything. I’m merely suggesting that an intellectual revolt – key word intellectual – would likely bring a positive change if our anti-American misfit of a president remains in office.

I think that except for career freeloaders, many blacks and most bleeding heart liberals there are enough capitalistic-oriented voters who will, after waking and giving the matter some thought, facilitate returning the country to a land of the free and home of the brave with a government of, by and for the people.

I hope the majority of citizens have already awakened and have or will cast their votes for Mr. Romney. We’ll see.

You are RIGHT ON Chip! How did a gay/bi-sexual-whatever/communist/muslim/foreign born with stated goals to “fundamentally transform America” into a socialist state make it to the presidency and probably to a second term? The media in America – that’s how. We need to boycott all advertisers on the “lame stream” media outlets. It needs to be organized and targeted, but win or lose on Tuesday, the liberal media in America needs to know We The People aren’t going to take it any more. Their biased coverage of real news or, in the case of Benghazi and the murder of four Americans, their refusal to report this news for fear it may hurt their Babyboma, makes them as complicit in this treason as is Obama. Any volunteers for organizing a boycott of (take your pick) ABC, NBC, CNN, CBS?

All the evidence points to the opposite. Look at France. On the brink of a financial collapse they elect a guy who even further to the left of all those who put them into bankruptcy in the first place.

Why? Because the govt put enough people on the dole to ensure economic slavery. It’s like when blacks were first set free after the civil war. They had no clue what to do or where to go. They had spent their whole lives relying on someone else for everything.

What you propose would only feed into exactly what the left want.

Jeep IS planing to move some production to China, do you honestly believe a CEO who’s secret plans have just been aired all over the country to his horror and shame? God man, wake up!

Obama absolutely positively did NOT describe the Benghazi attack as an “act of terror”. He used the word “terrorism” in a completely different sentence about how the U.S. should respond to terror attacks. He was NOT referring to Benghazi, but you haven’t the intellectual honesty to admit that, do you?

Romney absolutely does support a woman’s right to choose, show me exactly where he says he doesn’t. What he does not support is the cold blooded murder of a living baby that survived an abortion attempt, unlike Obama who championed a bill in Illinois making the murder of a living human being outside of and independent from a mother’s body legal just because the child survived an abortion attempt.

Obama did NOT “rescue” the auto industry, he did however, pass along a massive bribe to the UAW to keep working. Check out GM’s stock value today… it’s 1/4 what it was before the so-called bail out. Meanwhile Ford Motors is doing just fine without taking any bribe money from Obama.

Those are the facts buddy. i suggest you do your homework and not just regurgitate Democratic talking points posted on the daily Kos or MoveOn.org.

The biggest problem (among so very many) is the fact Obama is an Ivy league academic and as such is conditioned to look down his nose at the “little people”. Most all Ivy Leaguers assume they are superior to everyone else, how would they have gotten into Harvard or Yale? But the dirty little secret is you can get a better, more even handed education from almost any other college and for a lot less money. If I had my way, Academics would be banned from entering politics. They live in a world of theory and have zero experience in the day to day dealings of the “common man” and cannot relate to the real world. That’s Obama’s problem and it manifests itself in an aloof, arrogant, superior manner that is unsustainable when faced with the facts. Watch as he dodges the Benghazi questions….

As I replied to Johnrett below, it might come to that since career free loaders, blacks and bleeding heart liberals will likely vote for the President.

I fear – yes fear- there might just be enough of them to keep the man in office ’til 2017 and, in addition, give him two democrat controlled chambers in the U.S. Congress.

I’ve learned from viewing Fox News almost 24/7, we all have a lot to lose if it happens.

The Charlotte Observer and Raleigh News & Observer, once owned by Knight Ridder who sold their stable of newspapers across the US to McClatchy Newspapers located in Sacramento several years ago. McClatchy paid a huge premium to Knight Ridder which burdened the company with tremendous debt…

McClatchy also owns The State Newspaper in Columbia, SC & Sun News, Myrtle Beach. To my knowledge neither of these papers have made an endorsement. In SC if they endorse Obama they would probably lose several thousand subscriptions as R & R likely to take SC by 13-18% victory margin…The Charleston SC paper which is privately owned endorsed R & R today…

Hey Julie Moose….Yes Obama gave the order however it was Bush policies already lined up. He deserves some credit. OB campaigned on all troops out after his Inauguration. They are still there and in Libya. OB inherited deficits and by both parties…Also the banking collapse since the 90s under Clinton/Banking Comm under Mass Dem Barney Frank and Conn Dem Chris Dodd who allowed loans to people with no credit bad credit and some without jobs…caused the banking collapse = bad economy ….YOU need to get fact before you write an article!!!

The fact that some newspapers that formerly endorsed Obama are not endorsing anyone this year speaks volumes. They know that Obama is a supreme failure who will raise their taxes and ruin the economy, but cannot bring themselves to offend their mostly liberal readers. They don’t have the editorial courage to state the truth.

The mess you say The One inherited did occur until the Dems took over Congress and caused the mess with the exception of the prescription drug coverage added to Medicare. The root of most of it came from banks being forced to make home loans to people who could not afford them and that was Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. GW even issued repeated warnings but was told he was out of line and not relevent. Of course you will not report that – the truth never matters when it is not convenient.

The editorial boards can do what they want, of course. But, I don’t pay much attention to their endorsements as I have a different opinion.

I’m probably the only card-carrying fiscal conservative in the country who is becoming more and more convinced that keeping President Obama in office ’til 2017 is the best solution for getting us back to a land of the free and home of the brave with a government of, by and for the people.

The anti-American misfit of a president himself isn’t the answer for our nation, a fading nation
in distress. Instead he is the catalyst for if he is in the Oval Office another four years there will be real Hell to pay in the form of an intellectual revolt when the sleeping giant – read voters – awakens.

“… more likeable candidate”. Excuse me but what do you find likeable about someone who admits to his literary agent that he was born in Kenya, whose 3 closest relatives were all deported or given a stay of deportation by Liberal judges, who wife admitted on tape that her husband was born in Kenya, who’s own Grandmother is on tape stating that she was in the room when he was born in Kenya, and who cursed openly in the White House after a REAL statesman, Mr. Netayahu, schooled him in the state of affairs n the Middle East, and someone who doesn’t know how to pronounce “Corpsman” nor knows what one is,and what exactly is likeable about someone who has cost the taxpayer over $1 billion in 4 years for entertainment including 17 vacations, one of which required renting out ALL 500 rooms at a Spanish luxury hotel for 400 of Moochelle’s closest friends. What is likeable about a First Lady who has hired 40 assistants, most First Ladies had 1. What is likeable about the alleged homosexual affairs including the alleged murders of former gay lovers, and what is likeable about someone who appointed gays to the Supreme Court and a homosexual to be the “Safe School” Czar? What is there to like about someone who caused the death of 4 Americans in Benghazi and who enacted legislation in Illinois to allow for the murder of aborted fetuses that survived and breathed air because the Liberal woman “intended” to have an abortion, but the child miraculously survived and then was tossed into a linen closet to die. And WHAT IS LIKEABLE ABOUT OBAMA who ten tried to COVER UP THE LEGISLATION THAT ALLOWS FOR THE MURDER OF THESE CHILDREN THAT SURVIVED ABORTION? Only in a Liberal mind. Hack ptui.

Obama is the more likeable candidate? Really? He strikes me as arrogant, detached, aloof, and completely indifferent to anyone whose opinion differs from his own. One man asked him about the high price of gasoline, which was hurting his finances; Obama’s reply? ‘Well maybe it’s time you got rid of that gas guzzler!’

Obama is not likeable and his wife is equally unlikeable. See the You Tube video “All this for a damn flag?”

Romney has done many things on his own time and without any mention or publicity, to help others and their families. He donates a huge amount of his income to charity. He took his entire inheritance from his father and gave it to charity.

The only way Romney is unlikeable is if you believe the ad campaigns of the left- which is why Romney surged after the first debate. People saw that he is confident and intelligent, and not some out-of-touch executive. And they saw that he is likeable – much moreso than bitter, nasty, petty and childish Barack Obama.

Rats leaving the ship. I thought journalists and editors were well educated people. Why does it seem the left leaning ones keep repeating this lie:
“Obama got us out of Iraq”
Have they no idea what SOFA was all about? Do they purposely ignore the fact that Obama sought to keep us in Iraq but was told no by the Iraqi government?
At least this time this “news”paper got it right. Vote for leadership, vote for Romney.

All of these “last minute” newspaper endorsements are disingenuous…it is more like rats jumping off of the sinking ship Obama, than an alignment for Romney.

If they TRULY endorsed Romney, they would have trumpeted it to their readers two months ago, not election weekend.

Sorry dying press, this won’t help you by trying to latch onto the hitch of the WINNER this late in the game.

President Obama has a RECORD to run on and, unfortunately for him, that record is abysmal! Did the Democratic leadership really think that young voters would let fat, lazy, government bureaucrats tell them how much soda, salt, sugar, fat, etc. they could eat or what kind of toilet, lightbulb, shower head, car they could have?? Or regulate their internet? These kids won’t even listen to their parents or bosses, but they’re going let the Democrats micromanage their lives? Ya, right…….

Makes no difference. Who cares what newspapers think anymore? I can get two thousand newspaper opinions at the click of a button. Local papers no longer have sway over anything.

Plus, I have never heard of a worse endorsement. No mention of the continuing lies coming from Romney or the lack of any substantive plans on how to fix anything. It begs the question: are there thinking people at that paper?
