There is an odd conflation in the editor’s column of the independence of the School of Journalism and the IDS. The School of Journalism may have been independent for only 27 years. But the IDS was spun off as an independent publication sometime in the late 1960s or very early 1970s when I was a student in Ernie Pyle Hall. Probably a pedantic distinction without a difference.
