Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren is staying, but Megyn Kelly moving to prime time

While Greta Van Susteren is denying Mediaite’s report that she went looking for a position with CNN, her Fox News coworker Megyn Kelly, who is expecting her third child, is gearing up for a move to prime time.

In a very brief blog post Tuesday, Van Susteren addressed Andrew Kirell’s Monday item claiming that “according to our high-level sources within CNN, the Fox host initiated several meetings with CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker earlier this spring, inquiring about a potential return to CNN.” The On The Record host wrote:

I am not going anywhere.

I have a long term contract with Fox  and it is for a show in “prime time.”

Done, ok? (And by the way, don’t you love the courage of the anonymous sources? and those who then speculate from there? )

Politico’s Dylan Byers reminds readers that The New York Times ran a Brian Stelter story about Van Susteren’s and Kelly’s renewed contracts in May, in which Van Susteren’s husband John Coale suggested his wife may move to a time slot earlier than On The Record’s 10 p.m. Coale, a lawyer, represents his wife in contract negotiations, the Times said.

Mediaite did post on Tuesday Fox’s confirmed announcement that Kelly would be shifting schedules to join Van Susteren in the evenings. “Megyn is an exceptional talent who has successfully filled and surpassed each role we have given her at the network,” Roger Ailes said in a statement. “Her ability to command the screen, delve into the facts and lead a debate is what makes her one of the most sought-after anchors in the business.”

The site said there were no specifics about the “America Live” host’s new time slot. It also confirmed that in addition to Van Susteren, Bret Baier, Shepard Smith, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity all have renewed long-term contracts.
