Jennifer Gormley was up at 7:30 Wednesday morning with her kids in her apartment in Lower Manhattan when she snapped a photo of fog hugging the East River, nearly burying the Brooklyn Bridge. “We have an epic view out of the living room,” Gormley said when reached by phone. She lives on the 70th floor of the Frank Gehry-designed tower on Spruce Street. “We joke we have an ocean view,” Gormley said.
Gormley, who works as a director of product design, snapped the photo using Instagram on her iPhone, then put it on Facebook. Her husband, Matthew Rechs, later tweeted it, CC’ing NY1 Weather. The photo then began rocketing around social media. Rechs didn’t credit her on the tweet, an oversight he’s been trying to make up for since: “I’ve apologized to her as she was heading out the door,” he said by phone.
Gormley said she used an Instagram filter that “just tweaked the color a little.” She sent along some more shots that are just as epic.
