‘Winter wonderland’ — some newspapers remind readers snow can be fun

Most newspapers from snow and ice-covered cities around the country featured similar images and themes on Thursday — the pains of traffic, the troubles of clearing roads and the lonely pedestrian slogging through what feels like the worst winter ever.

A few newspapers, however, remembered what snow days are like for kids. (All covers courtesy the Newseum.)

From The (Shelby, N.C.) Star, a winter wonderland.

From the Lockport (N.Y.) Union-Sun & Journal, a snowball battle.

And from The (Schenectady, N.Y.) Daily Gazette, Olympic-style fun. (Also, Daily Gazette, the date is Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014.)
