Despite recent dip, reporter salaries still trending upward

According to the latest Newspaper Industry Compensation Survey, entry-level reporters saw a 2.1 percent increase in both salaries and total compensation from 2003 to 2004. The job titles of publisher and general manager experienced the highest increases in total direct pay, according to the survey. On average, general managers saw an 11.6 percent increase and publishers saw a 9.8 percent increase from 2003 to 2004.
