For a story she wrote Thursday for Medium, Erin Biba will earn 2.5 cents per click. She called bullshit on media algorithms that consider clicks, not the importance of a good writer.

I love the idea of a new world of media that exists solely on the Internet. And I really, really want to be part of it. But I also want to pay my rent and feed my cat. I don’t think that’s a lot to ask. In fact, I’m gonna go ahead and say I’m pretty irritated that I have to ask at all. Actually, screw that, I’m INSULTED by how much you’re trying to pay me. Or not pay me.

What Erin, et al, has/have apparently forgotten – even- though they may have never really known what “outsourcing” really means – is that there are at least 112 others in foreign lands that are ready and willing to take her job – at half-the-going rate!

    So – Shut-Up & Type!

Erin, if you’re truly insulted, quit acting like a whore. Read the contract before you write. I have zero problem finding well paying writing assignments. Quit putting so much emphasis on your education. No one cares. I’m calling bullshit on you.
