Wrong number causes CNN morning show to wake wrong man

CNN’s Early Start was supposed to do its “Wake ‘Em Up” segment with comedian Chuck Nice this morning. They rang him up a little after 4:30 a.m. his time. Except it wasn’t Nice on the line. Poor guy, whoever he was, got a very early and unexpected wake-up call. And the anchors were pretty embarrassed.

Just take this as a reminder to check those phone numbers and, in the case of TV, dial carefully. Video from Mediaite via Erik Wemple:

The show also did this to a member of the Kennedy family. She is a daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy. After waking her up, and I’m serious, the interviewer asked if she had any haunting memories of her father’s campaigns because of his death. What they’re doing is wrong on so many levels.

Also, I thought that one of the rules of journalism was actually telling a person who you are. Unless I’m mistaken, the two anchors are not members of the FBI.

I see it more as a reminder to go somewhere else for my news.
