L.A. Times corrects report of author’s porn habits, man’s “endowment”

The Los Angeles Times offered a book review correction that’s jam packed with porn and penis references:

“Big Little Man”: A review in the June 29 Arts & Books section of the book “Big Little Man” said that author Alex Tizon is in his 60s. He is 54. Also, the review described Tizon as an avid consumer of porn, but the book says the viewing was for research. It also described Tizon’s friend’s embarrassment about the size of his endowment, whereas the book states that “he liked being average.”

Hat tip to Romenesko for spotting this.

Here’s that little “journalism” debate I had with NBC:

“This comment was deleted.” …. WHY??? Do I have to go to Russia to criticize NBC?

You had a couple with inappropriate language and a few with inappropriate links. Thanks for posting to the CNBC blogs & have a great day.

This is STUPID. What “inappropriate language” in any of these (latest) comments? WHAT “inappropriate links”???!! You mean MAYBE some links that might embarrass NBC? IT WAS AN NBC LINK! I think we need to have a “talk”, about when censorship “MIGHT” be appropriate and when NOT. ESPECIALLY when it concerns, possibly faulty, news stories (like this “NBC” one)!

WOW – that’s was a really important correction, by the LA Times, wasn’t it? But, I can easily beat that one, hands down (and probably forever)!

The LA Times, maybe, deserves several awards for having committed one of the biggest journalism FAILS, of all times, in 2004. They should first get an award for the best BULLSHIT “story” of the decade. Another award for the the “longest cover-up of a bad story”, in the HISTORY of journalism, and they should also get one for “the most cowardly response to calls to fix this 10 year old journalistic atrocity” (even if Siemens and the College Board, might get a little upset)!

I will let readers of the above “journalistic masterpiece” (and especially the “journalists” among you), try to figure out why, and in how many ways, this article was SO WRONG – on SO MANY levels! Have fun. For extra credit, see how many other newspapers and news networks did similar reports, and then, ALL, refused to correct them!!
