Gannett layoffs ‘a vote of no confidence in the future of print’
Poynter newspaper industry analyst Rick Edmonds says the pink slips handed out by Gannett on Tuesday confirm a clear trend: “Newspapers, though still at least modestly profitable, are much smaller businesses than they were five years ago. Probably for good.
