People like James O’Keefe ‘think they are acting like journalists’
“They think having a camera makes them a journalist. Instead, this is a cheap caricature of journalism,” writes Columbia journalism school Dean of Student Affairs Sree Sreenivasan, who recently became one of O’Keefe’s interview subjects. “He shows once again that ambush interviews and selective editing don’t make you into a citizen journalist.” That’s one of Sreenivasan’s five lessons from the experience. Number three: “Anyone in the media can be a target these days.” || Related: O’Keefe’s partners on NPR sting say they wanted to target other media, but he turned it into “hit job” (The Daily Beast) || Earlier: O’Keefe calls Sreenivasan a “good man” after he ambushes him at Columbia (

Guess the definiton of “journalism” depends on whose ox is getting gored.  Or should I say “journolism”?

“He shows once again that ambush interviews and selective editing don’t make you into a citizen journalist.”

Two words for the stung and moronic Sreenivasan: “Sixty Minutes.”

If James O’Keefe had gone after conservatives using his methods, he’d have gotten punched in the nose a long, long time ago.

Thad took the words right out of my mouth.  Since O’Keefe didn’t matriculate at one of our fine citadels of liberal thought, and wasn’t inculcated with approved liberal orthodoxy then he obviously can’t be a journalist.

No, James is not a journalist in the league of NBC’s Chelsea Clinton or Luke Russert. Nor is he in the league of the countless number of beauty pageant winners turned news anchors/journalists that are on the air all over the country. These are serious journalists dedicated to the craft.

I wonder, that if James were more liberally inclined and targeted people or institutions that Sreenivasan found more palatable, if he would find any objection to his methods.

By the way, anyone see that 60 Minutes ambush on Nancy Pelosi?
