NYT, American Cancer Society produce book about surviving cancer

The New York Times collected stories from cancer survivors in a 2010 project called “Picture Your Life After Cancer.” About 200 of those stories are in a new book of the same name the Times produced with the American Cancer Society. It’s an interesting confluence of crowd-sourced information and charity work, and perhaps an exception to former Executive Editor Bill Keller’s suggestion last year that Times people stop writing books.

All the proceeds the ACS receives from publishing the book will go to cancer research and patient services. The Times will receive author royalties on the book, which has the cover price of $19.95.
