Critique by Roberts shows deep hostility toward the press

Judge John G. Roberts Jr.‘s critique of New York Times v. Sullivan is “quite an astonishing document,” says Anthony Lewis, former Times columnist and author of “Make No Law: The Sullivan Case and the First Amendment.” Lewis says: “He’s not a fan of the press. He speaks of ‘the zeal and insouciance with which the mass media assails public officials.’”
