Newspapers in convention cities splurge on coverage

Wall Street Journal
“This is a week to really showcase what we do best,” says Dean Singleton, whose MediaNews Group owns the Denver Post and St. Paul Pioneer Press. Wall Street Journal reporters write: “To stand out from other media, the local papers are treating the conventions as much as a major local happening as a national news event. The Minneapolis Star Tribune will have 15 reporters roaming outside the convention hall to write about the social scene and other community issues, and a separate team on call for coverage of protests.”
