Detroit Free Press exempt from latest Gannett layoffs

The paper is in a separate unit with Gannett flagship USA Today and isn’t subject to the community newspaper division’s headcount reduction mandates, reports Bill Shea. The Free Press did cut staff in early June. || Staffers at Gannett papers across the U.S. are posting layoff news on the Gannett Blog.
