The Empowered Visual Journalist (TEVJ)

Event Location: Savannah Conference Center Host: Savannah Morning News, The Poynter Institute NOTE: A brochure for this workshop was published with the wrong date on the cover. The correct date is Nov. 7. Tools for advocating visual principles without antagonizing others; methods of persuasion and conflict management; smart ways to boost your career, your staff's clout and the cause of visual excellence. Description: It's 25 years after the dawn of the visual revolution in newspapers. Where are we now? What have visual journalists accomplished in newsrooms, and what work remains? What can we learn from those who've reached the top of the profession? In what ways do visual journalists hurt their own cause? How can we work with staff and other leaders to advance great visual work? We'll search for answers, review our progress, look at our challenges, learn from influential visual journalists and set personal and collective goals at this one-day summit.
