Phil Gailey is editor of editorials and vice president of the St. Petersburg Times. In more than 40 years in the newspaper business, he also worked at the Atlanta Constitution, the Miami Herald, the Washington Star and the New York Times Washington bureau. He grew up on a farm near Homer, Ga., and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1966. He is 62, but looks younger.
