John graduated from Atlanta's Emory University in May with a degree in international studies and journalism. He is a native of Oklahoma City who is excited to bring his passion for community and environmental reporting to new places. Before coming to Poynter, John interned at The Oklahoman, the largest daily in Oklahoma, and Die Burger, an Afrikaans newspaper in Cape Town, South Africa. He also served as the news editor of an alternative Emory online paper and published his university's first journalism depatment magazine.
