Poynter teaching is more popular than ever. In 2018, every Poynter seminar sold out. 

Individuals and newsrooms can guarantee a seat in some of Poynter’s 2019 in-person seminars — including bedrock programs like Leadership Academy and a new workshop for early-career reporters — and save 15 percent by enrolling and paying tuition by Dec. 1, 2018.

Essential Skills for Rising Newsroom Leaders 
April 7-12
If you’re an inexperienced manager just starting your new role or you’ve got managerial experience but have had little training, this weeklong seminar is for you. You will gain the tools and confidence to lead your team. More than 80 percent of participants in 2018 rated this workshop as "exceptional," and more than 90 percent reported that it was "at just the right level" for their needs.

The Poynter Producer Project helps newsrooms grow their own producers. We have decades of success stories — many of our graduates are now news directors, executive producers and network executives. NEW! Reporting Workshop for Rising Newsroom Stars
Oct. 13-16, 2019
Poynter’s new workshop is designed to mentor early-career journalists in a small-group setting to unlock their superstar potential. Participants will grow as investigators and storytellers, and learn how to better manage their personal brand and navigate their career. Applicants must be nominated by an editor—and should agree to stay in their current newsroom for at least a year.

Essential Skills for Rising Newsroom Leaders
Nov. 10-15, 2019
This seminar for new managers is in high demand, prompting us to offer it twice a year. By participating, you will gain the tools and confidence to lead your team. You’ll receive personalized feedback — from your newsroom — about your strengths and challenges, and you’ll get help for leading your staff through the transition of becoming digital-first. This is the boost you need to excel in your new leadership role.
