As journalism students around the world get ready for graduation, we thought we’d pull together a quick look at the pros giving this year’s commencement speeches, including CNN’s Jake Tapper, The New York Times' Maggie Haberman, and, yes, Oprah.

It happened Friday at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Winfrey started with the bad news: Technology has eroded trust.

“We have literally walked into traffic while staring at our phones. Now the good news: Many of your parents are probably taking you somewhere very special for dinner tonight.”

There really is a solution, she continued, and it’s the next generation of communicators.

“You are in a position to keep all of those who now disparage real news, you all are the ones who are going to keep those people in check.”

On Saturday, Jake Tapper gave the big talk at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Earlier this month, Ronan Farrow spoke at Loyola Marymount University.

On Tuesday, May 15, The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman will give the commencement speech at Columbia Journalism School.

ESPN’s Jemele Hill speaks at Merrill College on May 21.

And ESPN’s Rachel Nichols and NBC’s “Weekend TODAY” anchor Sheinelle Jones will give the speech at Medill on June 23.

Who’d we miss? Let me know and we’ll add them to the list!

If you're hankering for some graduation inspiration yourself, enjoy this crowdsourced speech we pulled together a few years ago.
