Ghazala Irshad is The Marshall Project’s copy chief, overseeing its editorial style and standards. As an editor in her previous jobs, she’s led reporters covering beats from immigration to gun legislation. Ghazala has also reported from frontlines in the Middle East and in Southeast Asia. She completed Tow-Knight Center’s incubator for digital media startups, receiving a certificate in entrepreneurial journalism. She has a master’s in TV journalism from the American University in Cairo and a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Ghazala sits on the board of a nonprofit that serves immigrant victims of domestic violence.
