Jacqueline Marino is a writer, editor and professor of journalism at Kent State University. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, Cleveland Magazine, and the literary journal River Teeth, among other publications. This is her first piece about doctors since she followed three students through the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine for her book “White Coats: Three Journeys through an American Medical School” (Kent State University Press, 2012)
