Kate Cox is a digital media consultant and former editor-in-chief of The Counter, a nonprofit newsroom covering the money, power, and politics of food, where she oversaw special projects and edited numerous award-winning investigations. Prior to joining The Counter, she was a freelance reporter for radio and text, focused on health policy and the American age boom. Kate has written for The Guardian, The Nation, Huffington Post, and others. She now works with newsrooms to develop ethical leaders and build sustainability plans that make journalism more humane for journalists.

Kate is the program director for Poynter’s 2023 Leadership Academy for Women in Media.
