Kyah Probst

Junior, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Group: ,

My name is Kyah, I am a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee majoring in art education. I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, with my two younger brothers and my beagle, Mr. Bogart T. Higginbotham (we call him “Bogey” for short), but have been living in Milwaukee on my own for two years now. I am constantly teeming with passion about, arguably, way more things than I have time for — this would include art-making, media literacy, travel, education and K-12 pedagogy, disability advocacy, music, civic engagement, and eating food but not cooking it. Some things I am not a fan of include mathematics and stuff with wheels.

I am incredibly thankful for my participation in the MediaWise Voter Project, alongside an amazing group of college students and journalists. … A society that collectively lacks media literacy skills and has insufficient desire to vote (I’m looking at you, young people) seems like one that is bound for chaos. I’m looking forward to combining my interests and getting people a little riled up (but not too riled up).
