Lisa Geiger
Marketing Communications Specialist
Group: staff
Lisa Geiger is the Marketing Communications Specialist at Poynter, supporting the Institute’s teaching and ethics programs. As a former journalist turned marketer, she appreciates both worlds: “Journalism is about telling the stories that need to be told, while marketing is about making sure the right people hear them.”
Originally from Germany, Geiger started her career in local journalism before moving into corporate publishing and advertising agency work. Along the way, she learned from marketing pioneers, developed editorial and social media strategies, and turned complex topics into engaging storytelling.
After four years in Berlin agencies, she launched her own freelance business and relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. Over the following decade, she led marketing and communications projects for global brands including Ford, Lufthansa, Samsung, Sony and Ferrero, helping organizations connect with audiences through content, community building and integrated campaigns.
Outside of her work at Poynter and with clients, Geiger has been volunteering as the marketing lead for CreativeMornings Tampa Bay, a monthly breakfast lecture series that connects creatives and uplifts the community.
