Rico Edwards
Senior Producer
Joining Poynter in 2021, Rico Edwards works as the Senior Producer for Poynter’s News University team. He is responsible for developing and delivering video-intensive and live web courses and programs for journalists looking to enhance their skills.
Before Poynter, Rico was the Video Production Specialist at the United States Professional Tennis Association. Here, he created online education courses and video content. In addition, he also worked as the D&I Coordinator, developing outreach initiatives and best practices for the association.
Rico has been a director & producer on national television commercials and TV shows, winning multiple awards and gaining media attention. He’s been featured in local Houston and Orlando media (i.e., TV, radio, magazine, and newspaper) for his work on the 2015 TV pilot “Paying Dues.”
Rico earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College Chicago in film/video production. He plans on achieving his Master’s in Project Management in the near future.
