Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Sidney Tompkins is a licensed Mental Health Counselor who brings more than 40 years of clinical experience to her teaching. She is also a retired United Methodist minister.  Together with husband Al Tompkins, Sidney has taught thousands of journalists from around the world the skills of managing stress and trauma so common among journalists. Sidney’ clients include federal law enforcement, the Internal Revenue Service and  Fortune 500 companies.  She has led the newsroom trauma sessions for IRE, NABJ, NPPA, WNBC, WMAQ, The Dallas Morning News, Kansas Broadcasters Association, Michigan Broadcasters Association and other news organizations and newsrooms. Sidney served as Associate Pastor for Pasadena Community Church in St. Petersburg, an 1,800-member United Methodist congregation.
