Bloomberg's Kirk named Chicago News Cooperative managing editor

Jim Kirk left the Chicago Tribune 17 months ago to oversee Bloomberg News' Washington bureau coverage of the White House and Congress. His family was unable to join him in Washington, which meant flying home on weekends, reports Phil Rosenthal. Kirk joins other Tribune alums at Chicago News Cooperative. || More from Michael Miner.

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
