Britain's Sun apologizes for calling politician on maternity leave 'lazy'

One of the risks of publishing my annual list of the year in media errors and corrections before the exact end of the month is that I miss something worthy of mention. Well, it took less than 24 hours for that to happen.

Here's a pretty amazing apology published in U.K. tabloid The Sun yesterday, as tweeted out by the offended party, Member of Parliament Lucy Powell:

The paper issued an apology on Twitter prior to issuing the print correction:

The Sun had removed the online version of the piece after Powell issued an initial complaint.

Yes, it's definitely one of the notable media apologies of the year.
