Columbia j-school launches Tow Center for Digital Journalism

Martin Nisenholtz, head of digital operations at New York Times, said at the launch ceremony: "Thirteen different teams had to work together in order to construct the New York Times' [iPad] app; collaboration and synthesis are key in the new frontier that is digital media. Journalism is not only shaped by art, but also technology."

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
