WJBK reporter M.L. Elrick tried to speak to a Detroit politician as he arrived at a community meeting Tuesday night. A policeman roughly pushed him aside instead.
“I think it’s safe to say this is not usually what happens when I go to church,” Elrick said. “This is a city where police don’t come when you call. And then they attack you when you go and try to talk to a public official?”
Covering Detroit politics is not, apparently, a pursuit for the timid — an attorney shoved Elrick last year when he asked him a question.
