Dale Hansen made the trip Thursday from Dallas to Los Angeles for an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show. Amanda Wilkins wrote Friday in The Dallas Morning News about the episode.
Hansen, a sports broadcaster for WFAA TV in Dallas-Forth Worth, spoke with Poynter Thursday after landing in L.A. His commentary supporting college football player Michael Sam, who came out publicly, aired on Monday.
“It wasn’t a brave thing, it wasn’t a great thing that I did,” Hansen told DeGeneres. “The brave thing and the great thing is what Michael Sam did.”
