Ex-TV exec named CEO of Orange County Register parent

Orange County Register
Mitchell Stern -- a former Fox Television Stations Inc. CEO who later headed DirecTV -- has been named CEO of Freedom Communications, which exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy two months ago and is now owned by three investment firms and a group of banks.

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
