Google veep to tell Senate panel how innovation can help preserve journalism

The testimony of Marissa Mayer, Google's VP of Search Product and User Experience, has already been posted by Google. Its blog says: "Marissa will explain that Google is doing its part [to preserve journalism] by driving significant traffic to online news publishers, by helping them generate revenue through advertising, and by providing tools and platforms that enable them to reach millions of people." || Other witnesses.

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
