iPhone users can refuse targeted ads, not tracking

All Things Digital
With the launch of Apple's new iOS and iAds, the company has updated its consumer privacy policy and Peter Kafka points out that users can opt-out of receiving targeted ads, but the company will still track and share location data with its partners.

"Whether or not that creeps you out likely depends on your attitude toward services like Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter: If you spend your time broadcasting your status to the world, it's hard to get riled up about Apple keeping tabs on you, too."

Apple's policy states that the location data it gathers on you will be kept anonymously and used only to "provide and improve location-based products and services.”
