Jeff Meade's editor says her 'blood ran cold' when reading his confessional column

Jeff Meade's editor says her 'blood ran cold' when reading his column confessing to making up nun's quotes & other sins:

I returned from vacation this week and was horrified to read his Tuesday column which started out by saying: “The most unethical things I’ve ever done as a reporter …” He then gave us five examples, including reconstructing a quote from memory after he lost his notes and getting a coach to give him boilerplate quotes about a game that hadn’t happened yet. ...

Jeff says he was only trying to relate some funny incidents showing that reporters aren’t supermen; they’re human, too.

Being human means we make mistakes as everyone does. But Jeff, by his own admission, said these actions were unethical. That’s a red-flag word in our profession.
